- OWEN URIAH - The Same
yesterday, and today, and forever -
|
 |
Whilst
paying tribute to come of reggae's
greats such as Freddie McGregor
("Wine Of Violence"), Johnny
Osbourne ("Ain't Gonna Break My
Promise") and Bob Marley &
The Wailers with the "Waiting In
Vain" riddim (on "I
Surrender All" and "What A
Friend"), Owen Uriah also throws
in a few surprises such as the
provocative reworking of the
hit ballad by John Legend (here
entitled "We're Not Ordinary
People"). |
Is
this new release simply a tasteful collection
of cover tunes and versions? Hardly!
"The Same Yesterday, Today And
Forever" captures the Birmingham,
UK-based artiste Owen Uriah refreshing
some vintage and modern day
classic riddims whilst adding his own
personal touch to each one.
Thoughtfully reflective of
his Christian faith and perspective,
this fourth album represents the
artiste's own expression
combined with a respectful nod to some
of reggae's stalwarts. Make no
mistake- this is not about Uriah
getting sentimental on us! Each cut
from this new release is fresh and
relevant, offering a message appropriate
for these times.
Filled with heartical
praises, introspection and
encouragement, "The Same
Yesterday, Today And Forever"
finds Owen Uriah in top form and as
always- genuine.
Recorded, engineered and
instrumentally performed by Polo
(Gregory Isaacs and many others) and
crew at Vibes Productions.
