ARTISTS |
Next
to Messian Dread's catalogue, this Net Label
has a few releases by other artists and
producers. Some are very much related to the
Dubroom like the Iriginal JAH Roots band and
Sure Dread, others have graciously given
permission to release some of their material
like Dubcreator, Prince Fatty, Alpha and
Omega. On top of that, in 2014 the
Dubroom legally obtained an impressive list
of non-exclusive licenses to use vocal and
other material in original Dubroom Studio
productions. All of this leads to a list of
names ranging from completely unknown to legendary, like Dennis Alcapone,
U Roy and Dillinger. And, yes, in case you
wondered: all our releases are legal.

ALPHA
AND OMEGA
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - They debuted back in the
1980's with the deeply explosive
"Rastafari" 10 Inch, and the rest
can be considered essential part of the
history of UK DUB. Alpha and Omega have
released some hard material indeed, their
collaborations with Jah Shaka and
Greensleeves records should be mentioned and
there you have it in a nutshell.
Alpha and
Omega remain until this very day to be
leading forces in what has become a world
wide scene of Sound Systems, DUB collabs and
what have you. They even granted the Dubroom
a few things, which we proudly present here
at our Net Label's pages.

BLAMINACK
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
Blaminack
found a serious love for Reggae Music in the
early 90s. He borrowed a Reggae mixtape from
a friend and never returned it. Later on in
the 90s he found a CD in a
Christian book store and was amazed that
there were Christians making Reggae music.
At the time that was kind of a new
concept to him and he really began to dig
into Reggae music from a standard
"Gospel Reggae" perspective. Soon
this led to hearing music from Rasta artists
and Reggae artists from many different
backgrounds. Then he found out that Reggae
music was not an us against them kind of
thing. Reggae music was and is the peoples
music.

DAN
MAN
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - He is MC at Iration
Steppas, the well-known UK based Sound
System known for their militant and
heavyweight sounds. Dan Man knows how to
ride a Dubwise riddim, or any riddim for
that matter. He has a strong voice, being
the trained and skilled MC that he is, and
it's a true joy for the Dubroom to have him
on several original Dubroom productions.
With the license
that the Dubroom obtained, it has become
possible for our net label to release our
original music with Dan Man as MC. You will
find him announcing things, providing some
vocal lines here and there, more than enough
to give him his own page at
music.dubroom.org.

DENNIS
ALCAPONE
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Next
to U Roy, Dennis Alcapone means to DJ-ing
what Scientist means to Dub. With that, he
can be considered not only one of the
founding fathers of Reggae Toasting but
equally of the whole genre of Rap and
Hip-Hop. His voice has rode countless of
riddims since the late 1960's, an estimation
might even lead into a 4 Zero digit number.
A melodic
way of chatting signifies the trademark of
Dennis Alcapone. That voice doesn't argue,
that voice demands two ears and preferably
even more as he delivers his musical message
in a friendly, yet demanding manner. Listen
to the Original Dubroom riddims created
especially for this heavyweight and
legendary MC by downloading the 100% legal
releases from our Net Label.

DILLINGER
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Of course he is
known throughout the world for his world hit
"Cokane In My Brain", and
unfortunately many don't know any other
track featuring Dillinger. Not so in the
Reggae community, of course, where he has
reached legendary status for more than just
one world hit.
As a youth,
he started to hang around Dennis Alcapone
and when he started to voice, his name was
"Dennis Alcapone Jr". He
subsequently went on to record for many
different producers, including Yabby You,
under the name Dillinger. The vocal
recordings licensed by the Dubroom are just
a little tiny drop in the ocean that is the
catalogue of Dillinger's works, but they
drive the original Dubroom riddims to a next
level, that's for sure.

DUB
CREATOR
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
He
was one of the first online DUB artists, and
he is now an established name in the UK DUB
scene, even though he's not based in the UK.
Dubroom
Star Selections is proud to present one of
the Top DUB Producers based in the
Netherlands, if not The Top Producer
in that country: The mighty DUBCREATOR.
When he
started listening to Reggae Music in the
early 1980's, Netherlands based Dubcreator
soon discovered the mighty sounds of DUB and
decided to focus on this discipline of
Reggae Music for the rest of his life. In
Amsterdam, where he lives, he came up with a
concept to play DUB live with a band.
Remarkable, because DUB is a specific studio
music. So to think of ways to play this
particular style of Reggae live with a band
isn't something easy.

HEARTICAL
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Not only a long-time member of
the Iriginal Jah Roots where he plays a
heavy bass and guitars since the late
1980's, Heartical is a multi-talented artist
working in several audio-visual disciplines.
He creates intelligent, audible pictures
with his Dub-driven music created in his
Home Studio that the Dubroom is proud to
present, alongside a number of other works
of art that go beyond the spectrum of this
website.
Heartical
knows his Reggae without the shadow of a
doubt. He has produced a number of the
hardest bass lines played by the Iriginal
Jah Roots band, his guitar skanks are in
demand, even from times before the Internet.
In his solo works, he takes this foundation
and combines it with other specialties in
art that he masters, especially those of the
visual kind. How he does it, remains an
undiscovered issue. That he does it, is no
secret!

HORSEMAN
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Horseman
is a talented percussionist, drummer and MC
with veteran status. After all, he has worked with JAH
Shaka, Mad Professor and is the MC for
Prince Fatty's Sound System. His raw, heavy
voice blends perfectly with just about any
form of Reggae, but heavyweight Roots is
many people's favorite.
It all
started when he signed up for
Greensleeves records and did a track called
Horsemove. Horseman has been actively
involved in the UK Reggae scene ever since.
His two vocal releases through Prince
Fatty's Dub Drops triggered the Dubroom to
obtain a license to produce and release the
musical works in the Dubroom studio and
released through our Net Label,

JAH
BILLAH
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
Hailing
from the country of Croatia, JAH Billah uses
his studio to produce DUB Music in
collaboration with artists and producers
from all over the world. The remarkable
results form a good example of the fruits
that the Internet has brought (DUB) Reggae
Music.
The Online
Artist is a relatively new discipline with
the total spectrum we call the Music
Business. Unlike the independent artist from
pre-Internet days, (s)he has the
possibilities that even the rich and famous
could only dream of. Together
with computer technology in music
production, the Internet enables artists and
producers (as if there is a difference
between the two) to come together and work
on projects even when they are not
physically together.

JAH
ROOTS
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
The name Jah Roots has been used by several bands all over the world, but none of them can claim their beginning in the late-mid 1980's except for the Iriginal Jah Roots. This Original Jah Roots can be considered to be the "House Band" of the Dubroom.
Founded by Messian Dread and drummer Imro Fedor in 1987, the band has performed and recorded with guests on several locations and occasions.

KOJAK
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Who says "Kojak",
says Rub A Dub. At least, when it comes to
the world wide Reggae community. Even though
he started in the 1970's, Kojak's real name
comes from his countless 1980's releases
which, indeed, was the time of Rub a Dub or
"early dancehall" even though it's
not exactly the same.
Originally,
he began to perform under the name Pretty
Boy Floyd but that was soon over. He went
on, took the name of a well-known television
character and started to call himself Nigger
Kojak. Often in duet with a female vocalist
he simply called "Liza", his
particular style of DJing was well in demand
during the days when Scientist created his
now legendary series for Greensleeves.

LONE
RANGER
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Born in the UK, at age 12 he
went to Jamaica and at a certain time the
Lone Ranger was considered to be one of the
most lyrically inventive DJ's. Albums
followed, of which the one he did for Studio
One is considered to be a classic and
obligatory item in every self-respecting
Reggae collector's collection.
Like so
many MC's that started in the seventies,
Lone Ranger also took his name from a movie
character. Initially he started working as a
duo with Welton Irie but he remains to be
the best known for his Studio One album.
Not, that he didn't do anything else. In
fact, he's released almost ten albums and
countless of single releases.

MESSIAN
DREAD
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Messian Dread is the producer
and engineer behind all the productions from
the Dubroom studio. He has been actively
involved in the production of Reggae Music
since the late 1980's, and was one of the
first (DUB) Reggae producers to put their
music for free download on the Internet.
First in Midi format, then -when it was
released as a file format- in MP3.
Messian
Dread's musical output since the 1990's is
huge. Counting all tracks until 2011
produces a number of 300. From 2011 until
2014 it was relatively quiet around the
Dubroom Dread, but in 2014 he came back
strong with brand new original Dubroom
productions carrying licensed vocal
material. Below is just a small portion of
his works, when you click here
you will be directed to one page carrying
all free tracks.

PRINCE
FATTY
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Prince Fatty is Mike Pelancoli
and the reason he has this name is not
related to the size of his body, but
everything with his productions, of which
the Dubroom is honored to be able to present
an example. He is the motor behind DubDrops
and as such, also provided the Dubroom with
the excellent vocal material from Horseman
and Dennis Alcapone.
Prince
Fatty wants it fat, and he wants it in the
"Old Skool Style" of Jamaican Dub.
When Prince Fatty wants it, he doesn't get
it, he does it himself. A true producer with
talents but more important: with trained
skills and expertise.

PRINCE
JAZZBO
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - To say that Prince Jazzbo is a
legendary toaster who started recording for
Studio One and Black Ark, is to ignore the
fact that he is an acclaimed producer as
well. Although his body passed away in 2013,
we're fortunate to have recordings by this
remarkable Jamaican Reggae artist and
producer.
Born in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica and raised in Kingston, Linval Roy Carter (who would become known professionally as Prince Jazzbo) began his career with sound systems such as The Whip in Spanish Town. He began recording with Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label in the early 1970s under the name Prince Jazzbo, and also recorded for Glen Brown and Lee "Scratch" Perry.

RAS
KITCHEN
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Ras Kitchen aka Ras Mokko is a
Jamaican specialist in Ital Cooking and much
more. He has his own television show wherein
he introduces his livity as well as cooking
methods, and he loves to share his voice for
music.
In order to
raise
a little bit of money, for just a a
little bit more decent living if you will,
Ras Kitchen released two
free vocal sample packs from
his website. They are reviewed
for Studio Dubroom, a sub-site of the
Dubroom where producer of (DUB) Reggae can
find information and download things. It's
not really something for people who are not
actively involved in producing Reggae Music,
but when Ras Kitchen comes with Dubwise
tracks produced in the Dubroom Studio
especially for the Ras things obviously
change.

SEAMUS
IKONYA
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Originally hailing from
the mother land, Seamus Ikonya has won
several awards in Kenya as a member of the
vocal group Pentamony.
Not without reason, given the fact he worked
with Luciano and Anthony B, released on the Kenyan
Arkangel Records. Italian based Kaya
Sound System knows where to find him,
and that's just some of the work by this
amazing singer.
He started
singing while still at high school, went on
to work as a singer in several bands and
collectives both within and outside the
realms of Reggae Music. It doesn't matter
whether he performs with Pentamony
at a number of schools in Norway or
voices for Kaya Sound at Falterona
Reggae Camp in Italy, Seamus Ikonya
knows how to sing the right thing at the
right place.
His voice
at times reminiscences Junior Murvin, while
he doesn't pretend to sing like anyone but
himself.

STICKSMAN
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - There was a time when Beat
Creator and Vocalist Sticksman lived next to
Dubroom producer Messian Dread. Ultimately
and inevitably, some thing had to be created
together and indeed that happenned. He
provided some loops and vocal licks to
Messian Dread, who added
some more stuff and turned it all into a
heavy DUB tune.
Dub
meets Hip Hop in an earth-quake mix
uncovering the foundation which is the drum
and the bass. A musical conference with an
outcome that will definitely please the hard
core DUB and Trip Hop fan to the absolute
fulness.

SURE
DREAD
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
Ever
since Sure Dread joined roots reggae band
Jah Roots at the age of 14, he has been
developing his talents on reggae-keyboards.
And even then the black and white keys were
no mystery to him. With no
other mentor but Jah, his talents and the
albums he has heard, Sure Dread now has
developed his own style of roots reggae. And
he can be considered a veteran in playing
Reggae Music.
It doesn't
matter whether he spends weeks on a track or
just blows into his melodica on a drum and
bassline he never heard before, everythime
his talents come to the surface.

TRINITY
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - Anyone even remotely
familiar with the Dubroom and it's editor
knows about the admiration for Yabby You.
The Original Jesus Dread. Jesus Dread, also
the title of Trinity's big-up of Yabby You.
Not a surprise, that the Dubroom is thankful
to be able to produce original riddims for
the voice of this crucial and legendary MC
and present them to you.
After working as a deejay on several Kingston sound systems, he made his debut recording in March 1976 with "Set Up Yourself" for producer Joseph Hoo Kim. "Words of The Prophet" followed for Yabby You, who also produced his debut album, Shanty Town Determination. Late in 1976, he joined up with Dillinger for the "Crank Face" single, and the Clash album, produced by UK-based producer Clement Bushay.

U
ROY
DUBROOM
NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION |
WWW,
August 2014 - He is widely considered to the
the founding father of Reggae MCing, and
with that the grand father of other musical
ways that incorporate, let's say, chanting
over rhythms. Of course the Dubroom is very
grateful to have obtained a license to
produce original Dubroom riddims to carry U
Roy's mighty and melodic voice.
Unmistakable,
undeniable and identifiable. Leading the way
even when producers have his voice recorded,
here ate the Dubroom this is definitely the
case. Yes, you can -and should- look to his
more than impressive biography but to hear
his voice is to hear not just the history of
Reggae, but a voice that had been decisive
in the development of music.
