ROOTS GENERATORS
DUBROOM NET LABEL ARTIST DESCRIPTION

Roots Generators is the virtual studio band from the Dubroom. The band was founded in 2025. Just like studio bands in other Reggae studio's, the Roots Generators provide a riddim and vocals to the producer/engineer, who then works on this raw material in the studio. Both music and lyrics are completely original and written, directed, arranged, produced and mixed by Messian Dread.

The music?

Original and uncompromising Roots Reggae and of course Dub. Vocal tracks, DJ toasting, heavyweight Dubs, everything is there. Carefully crafted, arranged and mixed by Messian Dread in the Dubroom studio. Messian Dread was one of the first to create original (DUB) Reggae with computers and release it online back in the mid 1990's. He is therefore widely considered by connoisseurs to be a pioneer is this field. The Roots Generators are the next chapter in this pioneering.

ROOTS GENERATORS - GOSPEL REGGAE RIDDIM

WWW, August 2025 - Presenting the Gospel Reggae Riddim: two titles, each one with an accompanying Dub version. A composition with an interesting chord progression and musical breaks, a chorus with back ground vocals that stick to your mind and a very talkative bass line with a massive One Drop drums. The Gospel is good news, hence this riddim is good news.

From the top to the very last drop, the majestic sound of the riddim matches very well with the lyrical content. Although the two titles have lyrics that are for the most past the same, the two titles are sung differently and also have a different message. Where "Gospel Is A Crime" delivers the true Gospel of Yesus Kristos in a very clear way, the second one is more about Gospel Reggae music. To get the message, listen to the lyrics or read them.

ROOTS GENERATORS - CHURCHICAN RIDDIM

WWW, August 2025 - A One Drop riddim, a very interesting chord progression with some very basic instrumentation and a running bass line form the foundation of the Churchican Riddim, the third Roots Generators riddim released by the Dubroom. The two titles that are created with this riddim form a strong warning against what is commonly known as "Chrurchianity" and still a message to keep believing in Yesus Kristos.

The music is sweet and definitely has a late 1960's vibe around it. Especially in the first title, the singing is very much similar to the late 1960's. The minimalistic instrumentation, just a piano and two guitars over the bass and drum/percussion adds to that vibe. Even though it is a basic two chord riddim, there is one part just after the beginning of the track that has a very interesting chord progression. It's like the music goes everywhere.

ROOTS GENERATORS - BLACK AND WHITE RIDDIM

WWW, August 2025 - The second riddim from the brand new Roots Generators project is a strong declaration against all racism and racist actions. The riddim comes with two different titles, each one of course with a Dub version. The first title is a song in the spirit of One Love and Haile Selassie's speech against racism, rendered by Bob Marley in his track war. The second one is a DJ tune with a thunderous rant against downpressors, bagowires, racists and sound clash warriors. And the music? Read on...

A deep bass and a kick drum that surely lives up to it's name. You'll need a subwoofer to enjoy it to the fullness, as the drum and bass together will surely vibrate the place. The bass line is strong because of it's simplicity, in the tradition of tracks such as Bunny Wailer's Collie Man, and there is a majestic horn theme. Everything is mixed with care by Messian Dread in the Dubroom studio.

ROOTS GENERATORS - SEE DEM RIDDIM

WWW, July 2025 - This is the first fruit of a brand new Dubroom project called "The Roots Generators". It is the name of a virtual Studio band that does exactly the same what a Reggae Studio band does: making original raw riddim recordings, under the direction and arranging of the producer. Everything is carefully crafted and subsequently processed in the Dubroom Studio. Mixing, arranging, directing, producing: whatever you can think off studio wise is all done by Messian Dread. This also goes for the lyrical content.

Introducing the "See Dem Riddim"!

The first Roots Generators riddim released by the Dubroom is a militant steppers drums and a very deep bass for which you need a subwoofer in order to have the maximum experience. Guaranteed for some earthquake effects in your neighborhood or local. A small horn theme and a tight rhythm section complete this solid musical work.
